Sunday is the Best Day... Sometimes

Today turned out to be a really nice sunny day here in Seattle. The weatherman had called for rain but thankfully he was wrong.

I started my day off with an hour long facial at Spa Noir, which I LOVED. Then I met up with Melissa at Shoefly which was just supposed to be a random quick stop but then I discovered their 70% off sale section and couldn't resist myself... I tried on a few duds but then found a cute brown heeled sandal that I had to have! The shoes were originally $116 but after the discount and tax they came to $38.33. SCORE!

Then Melissa and I headed over to Polite Society to check out what was left as they are closing (So sad!!). They have a few cute items still available but it was pretty picked over. I guess that is good for them though as that means a lot of merchandise has been sold. There were many pieces of antique furniture - a beautiful French desk caught my eye!

Then we hit Free People to see what they had. I've seen their clothing at Nordstrom but have yet to actually visit their shop. There were some nice items in there but their clothing felt a bit to young for me.

After all that shopping it was time for some bubble tea in the ID. We hopped a bus and headed on down there. As we were walking towards the tea place we noticed this crepe place we've had our eye on was open (it had been closed for renovations). We've talked about it for so long - today was the day!

I had the most delicious banana custard coco whipped crepe. It had bananas, whipped cream, custard and chocolate sauce. OMG it was sinful and sooooo yummy! I just kept telling myself it was low fat... We did still get bubble tea after we both had a crepe. The sugar rush has set in!

We said our goodbyes and headed our seperate ways. The day isn't over yet, but man, it was a good day!

The Weekend Recap

This weekend in Seattle consisted of the last 2 shows of Seattle Fashion Week. I did not attend the show on Friday night due to still recovering from this crazy bug I have, plus I wanted to spend some time with hubby. My fabulous intern, Youa, attended and will be recapping the show.

As you should know already I did attend Saturday nights show and there were some aspects of it that I enjoyed. I don't really get adding in musical performances but that's just me. It's nothing against the singers but I'm there to see a fashion show and it's hard enough to sit there for a long period of time so just adding singers in the mix just makes the show seem even longer. Some people may have loved it but I'd rather just see a runway show and then mingle after. It's just a personal preference... I don't attend alot of concerts to begin with so I may not be the best judge on that one. I'd love to know what other attendees thought.

Sorry, jumping ahead of myself here. Saturday morning started out with coffee and an interview with Seattle designer Jme (pronounced Jamie) of Salvationware. I will post that as soon as it's all ready - we chatted for quite awhile! :)

Later that day I went to local boutique, Curtsy Bella, to check out the Tarina Tarantino trunk show. I was amazed at their selection! Mary Jo, the owner, informed me that Tarina Tarantino jewelry is a hard client to get as she is very selective as to where her jewelry is sold. I wanted to pick something to wear to SFW that night but had a hard time deciding on just one piece so I ended up leaving with 4. (Thankfully, hubby doesn't read my blog!)

Curtsy Bella is a really adorable shop and I'm sad it took me this long to get over there. It's over by the U Village which I didn't even realize, I've been over that way 100 times, geesh I should pay more attention! I am hoping to go back and get the Barbie Cameo Tarina Tarantino collection next time (see picture above)... or maybe sending the hubby as a gift idea for moi! Today involved no fashion what-so-ever... other than this blog post. I had hoped to go thrift store shopping this afternoon but by 2pm I was all out of steam. I went for my first run after being sick and managed to squeeze in 5 miles but it wasn't consistent running. I was wheezing a bit as my lungs are STILL not clear... Oh well, it was trying to be a nice day out so I figured I would get out and enjoy it... even if it was just with exercise. I will say thought that the best part of the day was wearing flip flops and no jacket! The 2nd best part of the day was dim sum and bubble tea with Melissa - I always enjoy that!

Oh Sunday, Sunday... La La Laa La Laaa

Today was a good day, even with the snow flurries. Sunday's tend to be somewhat dreadful for me in the sense of them being the last day of the weekend. I know the next day is a work day and I'll have to go back to the joys of sitting at a desk, working. Don't get me wrong, I love what I do and am extremely thankful to be employed in this crazy time we live in... However, I do wish my Sunday's were longer.

My day started off with dropping the hubby off at work and then heading back home to do a deep conditioner treatment on my hair. Maybe not exciting to talk about but I was really excited about doing it. Something about soft hair is always a plus! I bought this stuff that was recommended to me called Hask Henna 'n' Placenta Dual-Action. Yes, I said placenta, animal placenta to be exact. The package assures me there is no animal testing or cruelty to animals ("Placenta extract, derived from animal placenta (Environmentally responsible formula), is combined with amino proteins to revitalize and protect every hair type. Cruelty free. No animal testing. Made in U.S.A.")... Still, somewhat weird sounding. It only takes 10 minutes which isn't bad. I bought another brand that takes 45 to an hour. I'll try that one another day. If you are wondering, it made my hair nice and soft and shiny and it even smelled nice... Not at all what I would imagine placenta would smell like... Ew!

After all of that I met my new friend, Maki, for noodles at Boom Noodle in Capitol Hill. I really enjoy that place and the conversation was enjoyable! It's fun helping someone learn about new things. I explained what beets were (surprisingly not easy to explain) and how to use the term "crush" as in I have a crush on him/her. She explained to me about the Japanese number system, which is still pretty confusing to me... She was even so kind to bring me an early birthday gift - thanks Maki!

The rest of the afternoon consisted of me running errands at Costco (yawn), Uwajimaya and getting bubble tea (the new flavor I tried today was Lychee - YUM! Last Sunday was Taro as I'm trying to try flavors other than my favorite, coconut.)

The rest of my evening has consisted of me updating the UFN boutique and designers listings. I am so far behind (laziness!) but finally I have caught up somewhat. Sooooo, go check out the designers and the boutiques, they've been updated somewhat. I still have a few more to add and hopefully will this week!
